GATEWAY 2 NATURE
WOODS MILL

Following success in a design competition, in 2006 Miller Bourne gained full Planning Approval on behalf of the Sussex Wildlife Trust for ‘Gateway 2 Nature’, a new education centre at Woods Mill in Henfield.
The single storey building comprises 2 large classrooms, exhibition space, a wet room, study space and offices. A large timber deck will project out over the adjacent waterway to provide external learning space and an opportunity for children to ‘get close to nature’. This new facility has been designed with sustainability in mind and incorporates a rainwater harvesting system, rammed earth walls, locally sourced building materials, solar panels, and wood chip burning boilers to provide space heating.
